"Faces of Estonian Culture"

In 2010, Alexander Ivashkevich launched the photographic project “The Art of Life”,
aimed at capturing the personalities who have helped shape Estonia’s cultural space.
Through portrait photography, the artist sought to introduce both Estonian- and Russian-speaking audiences to individuals who, in his view, have made a significant contribution to the development of Estonian culture.
The exhibition consists of portraits of creative people of different nationalities, fields, and worldviews — all of whom have left a unique imprint on Estonia’s cultural landscape.
The photo exhibition “The Art of Life” was first opened in 2010 and has been showcased in Tallinn, other Estonian cities, and abroad. Since 2018, it has carried the additional subtitle “Figures of Estonian Culture.”
The project features numerous renowned cultural figures, including Tõnu Naissoo, Roman Baskin, Eino Tamberg, Dave Benton, Marika Korolev, Anne Veski, Marko Matvere, Vladimir Anshon, Sandra Nurmsalu, Adolf Käis, Natalja Saal, Slava Semerikov, Aarne Saluveer, among others.
The project was supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia (Eesti Kultuurkapital).
